As the summer kicks into full gear this week, our team of drone pilots have been busy doing drone photography and aerial video around Western New York. Construction has been a BIG part of the reason why. From filming home builds on lake Chautauqua (pictured below) to 3-D scans of new office space available at Seneca One in downtown Buffalo, we never know what type of property will be next. We've found that more owners have wanted to document their new builds lately. We used to do the occasional before and after drone photography on these construction sites, now it seems to be much more frequent. And we have the team of professional drone operators (FAA part 107 certified), in place to handle the surge!
On the higher-end scale, we have seen a need for more drone survey work to generate 3-D aerial images for commercial properties becoming a trend in that market. Our pilots operate the DJI Inspire 2 (with X7 lens, polarizer) for the highest quality 3-D scans. We take a series of aerial photographs in a specific pattern to then create a 3-D orthomosaic rendering. An orthomosaic (interactive drone map) is a geometrically correct aerial image that is composed of many individual still images that are stitched together. Orthomosaics provide a similar view to what you'd see in the satellite view in Google Maps...but much clearer.
Other clients prefer an aerial time-lapse video of the construction at their site filmed over a longer period of time. Sometimes weeks or months and sometimes yearly. To do this, our drone operators will use DJI's software to map the property by drone, precisely, to the achieve the same measurements on each visit. These are usually longer contract deals with our video production clients where we will film drone photography & drone video weekly.
The Buffalo Videography drone pilots specialize in commercial drone photography and property scanning for surveys and 3D mapping in Western new York and beyond. As always, when it comes to drones Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS, the Buffalo Videography pilots are here to answer any questions and help you out in any way they can.
